A word about my guitars
The cigar box guitars I make I consider very affordable compared to other instruments that are available. Some of these instruments can cost as much as $1000.00 or more. My guitars will usually be priced below $150.00. Each guitar is unique and no two guitars are exactly alike.
All my guitars will be either 3 string or 4 string models. A “standard” (if there is such a thing) CBG typically only has three strings, tuned in open tuning such as open E or Open G, but can be tuned any way you like.
My guitars can be either fretted or fretless, the fretless versions are designed to be played with a slide. Fretless models will have “frets” and fret markers burned into the neck.
Four string models can also be tuned in a variety of ways. They may be open tuning, or the top 4 or bottom 4 strings from a 6 string. Since these guitars use piezo transducers for pickups, they may also be strung with nylon or classical strings and still work find when plugged into an amp.
The necks are made from red oak or maple, and depending on the specific guitar, may have an additional fingerboard made of red oak, or poplar, unless otherwise specified. They may be stained, or finished in natural wood, depending on the box they will be attached to. Some guitars may have bolt-on necks so they may be adjusted, others may have a neck through design where all of the neck inside the box is glued to the lid.
The tuners will be commercially available tuners instead of hand made ones of the wooden or eyebolt variety. The bridge/saddles will be made from hardwood, or may have a threaded rod, or a brass rod as the bridge, again depending on the model.
If you have any questions about a particular guitar, please send me an email and I will try to answer your questions.
